Our Philosophy
My First School serves the needs of its community with a cooperative spirit dedicated to fostering the social, emotional, and academic growth of early learners. Deeply rooted in tradition, our program draws on a play-based learning model. From the classroom to the playground to the community at large, children take part in child-centered, teacher-directed activities designed to inspire imagination and to lay the foundation for a lifelong love of learning.
This cooperative spirit is enhanced by the multicultural and intergenerational experiences of our parents and our community. Parents rotate into the classroom where they are able to share their talents and interests with our students and participate in school events. In addition, our parents are invited to chair special committees and serve on our board of directors. We believe this extended partnership greatly benefits everyone involved and successfully bridges the home-school connection.
Together we support a creative environment for learning. As children develop sensory, motor, perceptual and language-based skills, parents work hand-in-hand with our experienced teachers and highly qualified staff to celebrate progress and fine-tune academic goals. This unique relationship between home and school enables us to honor the individuality of our students while meeting their developmental needs.
At My First School, we believe it takes a village to raise confident and curious learners. With the support of our parents, school staff and community, we take pride in offering our students opportunities aimed at building both self-esteem and academic success.
